JESUS – the Cornerstone

“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” (Psalm 118:22)

What does the term “cornerstone” mean, and why is Jesus referred to as such in the Bible?

My grandfather, Wolfgang Wegert, who is a former civil engineer, explains the significance of the cornerstone. In one of his sermons, he emphasized that when constructing a house, it is crucial for the cornerstone to be laid accurately.

The entire building is aligned with this stone, as it sets the right angles and determines the stability of the structure. In the same way, Jesus serves as the cornerstone of our lives, ensuring that our faith is aligned correctly. If you seek sound faith and doctrine, it is essential to align yourself with Christ!

Additionally, the cornerstone plays a significant role in creating connection and unity. Jesus unites nations and peoples, men and women, brothers and sisters, and even heaven and earth. He is the mediator between God and humanity, the cornerstone of love, who has reconciled us with the Father. Jesus represents the center, the axis, and the heart of our faith; He is the anchor of our salvation, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To Him belongs all the glory!
