JESUS – Immanuel (English)

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: ‘Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel’ (which means, God with us).”(Matthew 1:22-23)

Perhaps this isn’t new to you, but I find it incredibly fascinating every time…

For centuries, even millennia (Genesis 49:10), the birth of Jesus was foretold by the prophets in the Old Testament. These prophets eagerly anticipated the moment when the Savior would arrive on earth.

This longing and hopeful expectation runs like a thread through the pages of the Bible. And then, at last, He came:  Immanuel – God with us. God became man, all for you. That’s the essence of Christmas.
