„You’re Perfect the Way You Are“ – Right or Wrong?
“You‘re not enough (and that’s okay)” by Allie Beth Stuckey
„You’re perfect the way you are.“ Those who communicate this message mean well. They’re trying to soothe our insecurities. But „you’re perfect“ isn’t what we need to hear, because it’s not true, and it doesn’t address our deeper need.
When we don’t like our appearance, when we feel like a failure, the solution is not found in our own perfection. Our solution is found in Christ. We aren’t perfect, but He is.
When we look away from ourselves and up to Him, we find the love, fulfillment, and confidence we’re longing for.
We won’t find assurance by thinking more highly of ourselves. We find it in thinking more highly of Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross.
How we perceive ourselves changes every day. We are not a reliable source for our own confidence.
But…
Jesus never changes, and His love for us always stays the same.
Love,
Mirjana Joy
