What Does the Bible Say About Quiet Time?

There is no command in the Bible about having a daily quiet time the way that we think of it. The Lord wants our hearts, right? So what God actually commands in Scripture is so much broader and freer and better than this cultural construct we have put together called „quiet time“. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind and all your strength…Jesus says: „Abide in me and I in you.“ So God is not prescriptive about how you come to His Word. He just wants you to come to Him.

Let‘s Get Practical

Your quiet time doesn’t have to be quiet (that one is for you, mamas of little kids :)). You don’t have to bring fancy notebooks and markers, and light a candle (you sure can, but there’s no obligation). You don’t have to read xyz chapters for xyz hours. God wants your HEART. God wants COMMUNITY with you. Read a few verses (or more/less whatever amount you can take in), think about them, pray them, or listen to an audio bible, worship music, or a sermon, put encouraging Bible verses on your mirror, go on a prayer walk… Just make room to intentionally seek His presence & let Him transform you day by day.
