Choose Wisely
How do you feel among the people in your life? And how does spending time with them affect you?
As believers, we ought to serve one another – not only our favorite people, but those who challenge us as well. It’s impossible to live a life without difficult humans (maybe you’re the difficult one for some too!).
However, when it comes to the close people in your life, the ones who impact you and give advice…it’s your responsibility to choose wisely. Because you will become who you surround yourself with.
The Bible has a lot to say about friendship. Here are just a few examples from Proverbs:
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.“ (Proverbs 13:20)
“A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.“ (Proverbs 16:28)
“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.“ (Proverbs 18:24)
“Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.“ (Proverbs 22:24-25)
Maybe it’s time to “evaluate“ your friends – and yourself. Do your friendships align with God’s Word or do you find “red flags”, even toxic, narcissistic aspects? PRAY for wisdom.
What kind of friend are you wishing for? Ask God to help YOU become that friend.
Love,
