Dealing With Difficult Circumstances

by Chad Masters

Whenever I remind myself of God‘s goal for me, not my goal for me, but God’s goal for me, then I look at things and I respond to things totally differently.

Because when I look at my goals and a hardship or an obstacle comes my way, I feel like they‘re attacking me in my plans. They‘re working against me.

But whenever I look at God‘s goals for me, and I look at His goal for me to experience Him, to enjoy Him, to be sanctified into His image, to become steadfast when I face trials, to be loving, to be kind… Now I want to say: How is this a tool of God‘s grace in His goal for me?

So I look at the obstacles less than as wind blowing against my face, but more wind pushing the sails forward towards what God has for me vs what I have for me.

Obstacles are tools of God’s grace that help us pursue His plan for us!

“When all kinds of trials crowd into your lives, my brothers, don’t resent them as intruders, but welcome them as friends! Realize that they come to test your faith and to produce in you the quality of endurance. But let the process go on until that endurance is fully developed” (James 1:2-4).
